Project Overview
As the world faces the climate crisis, Cannock is spearheading a way forward with four remote wind farms across the UK. Held back by poor internet quality in their rural sites, Cannock required a fibre internet and a managed solution to increase reliability and improve communication between their sites.
“SoConnect’s commercial and technical support are a breath of fresh air compared to our previous experience, and prices continue to be competitive.”

Cannock Wind Farms
The Background
The best locations for wind farms are the most remote; coastal areas, open plains and gaps in mountains – places where the wind is strong and reliable. Unfortunately, these are also the places likely to have poor broadband coverage. Cannock relied on patchy broadband services to run their business and required better internet to improve efficiency.
After bad experiences with a previous supplier, Cannock needed a managed solution with a responsive support offering.
The Strategy
Strategise a solution for Cannock's connectivity problems and provide detailed project management to ensure minimal downtime.
Provision four FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) connections to remote locations across the UK.
Implement an ongoing support agreement that ensured Cannock could get help quickly if things went wrong.
IT Services provided
Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC)
FTTC would be a cost-effective option for Cannock because of its widespread availability even to the most remote locations. One that could provide stable and reliable internet, resilient enough to fully utilise cloud-based services.
Managed Support
Our experienced and highly qualified support team provide a single point of contact for all business IT, telecommunications and digital transformation questions.
The Results
Fibre Broadband meant that Cannock could transform how they collaborated and communicated between sites—working more productively than ever before. Access to a responsive and friendly support team resulted in less time chasing tickets, and Cannock could get on with what’s essential to their business.
Moving telecoms and broadband services to SoConnect resulted in increased efficiencies and savings to the bottom line. Management Consultant, Martin, couldn’t be happier.
“We moved our voice and data services for four remote wind farms and operations base from a well know UK supplier to SoConnect, following recommendations from our Asset Manager at BVG Associates. Commercial and technical support are a breath of fresh air compared to our previous experience, and prices continue to be competitive. Thank you SoConnect!”
