Project Overview

Scotia Homes required a solution that was unique to their requirements. A legacy telecoms system prevented seamless communication between sites, while development sites with no infrastructure meant problems for connectivity. A lack of reliable phone and internet services and poor supplier support created a need for reliable voice and data services, with great customer service.

“SoConnect were able to propose a suitable connection offering better speeds at lower cost. This enabled us to replace our legacy phone system with Horizon VoIP and facilitate better collaboration between staff and sites.”

The Background

Scotia Homes Ltd is an award-winning property developing company who provide new-build developments across the North and East of Scotland. To keep up with their growing portfolio of new builds, Scotia Homes needed better communication between sites – both permanent and temporary. A lack of reliable internet services and poor technical support meant Scotia Homes needed fast and reliable broadband and a very responsive support team.

The Strategy

Migrate Scotia Homes away from on-premise telecoms. Implement a 72 user hosted telecoms system that could grow alongside Scotia Homes, ensuring increased reliability and user support.

Devise a solution to the connectivity problems at temporary construction sites. ADSL Broadband would ensure that services could be deployed quickly and cancelled easily when no longer required.

Solve poor connectivity problems at the Head Office with a dedicated full fibre solution to bring reliable internet and facilitate an improved Unified Communications solution.

Provide brilliant support on all services, with clearly defined SLAs. Ensuring that Scotia could get on with what's important, without the headache of bad supplier support.

IT Services provided

Hosted Horizon

A fully supported end to end VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) system, our Hosted Horizon package upgraded Scotia Homes’ outdated on-premise service, at a fraction of the cost.

Leased Line Connectivity

Leased Line provides a dedicated and private connection, so Scotia Homes could enjoy super-fast upload/download speeds up to 10GBps.

Temporary ADSL Broadband

ADSL is a low cost solution that can be deployed temporarily, while still providing excellent internet speeds. A perfect solution to Scotia Homes internet problems at development sites.

Ongoing Support

It’s important that businesses are connected 24/7/365, so we understood Scotia Homes’requirement for best in class support. We ensured that we provided clear SLAs on all services and fast response times to tickets.

The Results

The solution increases Scotia Homes adaptability and resilience. Hosted Horizon improved communication between different teams and across their multiple sites. Coupled with reliable connectivity there was a significant increase in productivity and collaboration throughout the business. The improved integration of communication services meant Scotia Homes could ensure that their customers received the best support.

Not only that. The move to cloud-based voice solutions also brought Scotia Homes increased cost efficiencies compared with their previous premises-based solution.

“SoConnect were able to propose a suitable connection offering better speeds at lower cost. This enabled us to replace our legacy phone system with Horizon VoIP and facilitate better collaboration between staff and sites.”
